Law and Order.

Monday, March 8th, I was summoned to appear for Harris County Jury Duty.
I’ve never been summoned before, and I have to admit, I was not thrilled when I saw the notice in the mail.
I was even …

Fear of Flying.

Fear of Flying.

I intended to write today’s blog on a totally different subject.
But, in my comic book strip of a life, things never happen quite how I intend so I’ve changed gears and the other post …

The Grocery List.

I had to make a late night run to Target tonight for milk.
Unlike our normal routine, which involves the last kid to eat breakfast on a school day coming downstairs and stating, “WE’RE OUT OF …

Where’s Keifer Sutherland when I need him?
I could really use his cutie pie self, when I’m stuck in my own version of his television show, the minutes ticking away, utter and complete chaos from one …

My Anti-New Years Resolutions

I’ve never been a big fan of New Year’s Resolutions. I think they are pointless.
But, like many people, I fall into that January 1 trap every year, and (no thank you to CNN and every …

Flying the friendly skies

Flying the friendly skies

I’m back from my 36 hour trip to Atlanta. Ya’ll would be so proud of me. I’ve made no secret of my aversion to flying. I’ve actually gotten much better in the last few years, probably because of the necessity of work travel. That, and the fact that you can’t exactly drive from Texas to Waikiki. While I can now fly without downing 4 mini bottles of White Zin on the plane (after downing about four in the airport bar before getting on the plane,) I don’t know if flying will ever seem natural to me.

I’m dreaming tonight…

I’m dreaming tonight…

I’m dreaming tonight, but it’s not about a white Christmas, or snow, or anything cold, or rainy, or wet.
No, what I’m dreaming about is the sun and blue skies. If it’s cold with blue skies, …

The Best Part Of Waking Up?

The Best Part Of Waking Up?

By some miracle of nature, we made it to bed before 11 pm last night, and I actually got more than 5 hours of sleep. That doesn’t happen often around here, and it certainly doesn’t happen often when the kids are out of school. Robert left for work while I was still sleeping, and since I got to play Snow White, I actually woke up a few minutes before the alarm clock went off.

Flashbacks.

Flashbacks.

Today was the first day of Thanksgiving holiday for the kids. Luckily for me, they have the entire week off. According to Chase, for the first time in like 25 years, instead of going to school Monday and Tuesday, and then missing the rest of the week, our school district was kind enough to give the kids all five days. The flashback I am having is not the good kind, from college days, or one martini too many.

Rejected, Redeemed and Reminded.

The blog below is a repost of one of my first few posts this summer.
Why, might you ask, would I do a repost tonight?
Other than the fact that I just finished working at 10 …

Two Wolves-Feed Your Strengths

My friend Mary Kay, who writes Spa For Your Soul, posted this awesome story a few weeks ago, and I’ve been meaning to share it. She has an excellent blog that I know many women …

Returning to work after welcoming your first child to the world is a challenging feat for many in today’s culture. Media information about working women with children is full of do’s and don’ts when it comes to juggling parenting with a career. How do new moms wade through this plethora of data, facts and statistics without adding to their current level of guilt?

Shock and Awe!

I met two women recently who just absolutely wowed and amazed me!

Batteries Required.

I’ve made it through another work week. I am starting to sound like a broken record (or CD, 8-Track, or 45, depending on your age) in terms of the mental and physical fatigue I feel by the time …

The Blob of A Blog

Tonight’s blog is really not much of a blog, it’s more of a BLOB because that is what my brain feels like.
I had one of those mornings where you know, within minutes after you get …

Stress Mangement for Overwhelmed Moms

One of the things I really enjoy as a therapist is helping people learn how to handle stress. I often ask clients what a typical day is like for them, so I can understand what …

This Is My Brain.

This week has been an absolute rat race, even for an experienced rat-race-runner-mom like myself.
The weather has been just horrendous and I’ve been around the entire city like thirteen times in four days, in terrible …
