Before you read much further, please note the following:
I am not a blogging expert of any kind!
I started blogging in May (yeah, as in May of 2009!), primarily because my childhood friend Brian had been doing an amazing job with his photo blog over at Texas Daily Photo. As if I didn’t have enough on my plate, I decided to give it a try and see where it went.
Little did I know.
I will confess this:
I love it. I’m hooked. And I’m always learning.
As I’ve mentioned before, I owned an internet business for seven years. Throughout the process, I developed and ran our website and also did all of our marketing, which was fairly successful. Somewhere in there, I learned HTML, some CSS and coding. On top of that, in my real life, I have an MBA with about 12 graduate hours of marketing classes.
What does all of that mean?
Not much except that I know enough about coding to pull together themes and tweak pages into getting them to look how I want them to. I cannot design a blog from scratch.
And, I know enough about marketing to understand that if you are doing a blog, and want other people to find it, there are some basic marketing rules and theories that you need to understand, just as basic business concepts.
With all of that not-so-fine print, I get asked about blogging frequently. So I’m breaking down this section into the most common sections/questions I am asked.
Remember, I am no expert and I believe that if you blog, the best thing you can do is share your tips and help fellow bloggers. I hope other bloggers will give advice if someone is stuck or has a question on how to do something, make a page better, or improve their blog.
And if you become addicted like I did, don’t say I didn’t warn you!
