The Blob of A Blog

Submitted by Shannon on November 5, 2009 – 9:21 pm7 Comments

Tonight’s blog is really not much of a blog, it’s more of a BLOB because that is what my brain feels like.

I had one of those mornings where you know, within minutes after you get out of bed, that an overnight power failure and dead alarm clock would have been a blessing and not a catastrophe.

Here is a rough version of the voice message I left my husband this morning, as I headed off to work, and he headed home after being gone to work for four days. This was the start of my day, it went downhill from there.

“Hi Honey, it’s me. I know you’re on your way home, I wanted to let you know a few things before you get there. ChasBad Daye is asleep on the couch with a trash can by his face. He was dry heaving last night and this morning, not much puke  though, I’ve given him Sprite, Tylenol and set the home alarm in case someone breaks in before you arrive, so hurry up. I was running late, Jordan didn’t like any of the 14 boxes of cereal we had, so I made us both egg sandwhiches. Except I forgot about the eggs, because I forgot to turn on the coffee pot and was half asleep, went to dry my hair, and remembered the eggs when the smell hit me, so now the house smells like burnt eggs. Sorry about that. Jordan fed Katy this morning, except most of the dog food went on the laundry room floor, so when you come in, don’t slip on the dog food. There are 5 baskets of laundry that need to be folded, sitting in the kitchen. There are about that many that need to be washed, one pile is in our bathroom in the middle of the floor. The cable company is gonna cut off the phone (who cares), the cable (okay, maybe) and the Internet (get your a** to the cable company and pay the bill NOW) if you don’t get over there and pay the bill today. There are leftovers for lunch and dinner, I’ll be home late. Oh, Please pick up red wine.”

Like I said, it went downhill from there.

I had a flat tire, got a speeding ticket, and there is a chance I could be expecting.

Just joking about that last part, trying to keep everything in perspective.

Dad, I hope your coffee didn’t come out of your nose when you read that.

Can you tell I got my red wine? Sweet dreams. :)
