The first person we are profiling in our ‘Profiles in Mom-Dom’ page is actually someone I chose-my friend Elizabeth. I’m so happy and proud to call her my friend. Elizabeth doesn’t write a blog, she’s rarely online, but she so fit the type of mom I wanted to profile, I nominated her myself.
I met Elizabeth in August of 2006. I know exactly what day I met her because it was my birthday and my first day at a new job. There are no words to describe how nervous I was. After all, I was re-entering the workforce after owning my own business for seven years. The first day was a big deal, I was terrified.
Within about 15 seconds of meeting her, I knew we would be friends, and I was not wrong. I just had no idea what how lucky I was to meet her that day. Friends like Elizabeth are rare treasures.
I would love to say that what made me choose Elizabeth as my October mom is the fact that she is amazing mom and wife. I would love to say the reason I chose her is because many weekends, when I am trying to rest in bed, Elizabeth and her husband, who are the youth group leaders at their church, are toting groups of teenagers around to various church events. I would love to say I nominated her because she is amazing friend, sister, daughter….all great attributes, but not the reason I chose her.
The main reason I nominated her though is not because of any of that. I chose Elizabeth because she has more faith in God than all the people I’ve met in my whole entire life. In fact I think that Elizabeth has more faith in her right pinky finger than I have in my whole body. And it always amazes me. I mean there is faith, and there is FAITH, and Elizabeth is the latter.
I remember many days when we used to work together, I would walk past her office with the door shut. Sometimes it was shut for a few minutes, sometimes much longer. What I eventually came to learn was that if the door was shut, Elizabeth was praying, 99.9 % of the time for someone else of course. Her faith is unwavering, unfaltering, and the most rock solid of anyone I’ve ever known. And it’s not because her life has been easy. That faith has had to carry her through losing her mother to breast cancer, to helping take care of her father, to just the ups and downs of being a working mom. She has prayed for me and my family during various trials, in fact I remember when he learned Jordan might have arthritis, receiving an e-mail from Elizabeth telling me she had ‘shut the door and do you mind if I lay hands on my computer and pray for him?’ That is Elizabeth. Somehow she is one step closer to God than anyone I know. And those are good people to have as friends.
Speaking of Elizabeth being a mom, I forgot to say that she is the mom to 5 year old Manny, quite possibly the cutest kid around. Manny just started kindergarten this year and from what I hear, he is already the teacher’s pet, which is no surprise.
(Know an amazing mom? Nominate her for next month’s Profile in Mom-Dom. Just sent an e-mail with her story to shannon_rubio@yahoo.com. We’ll post her story and photo or blog/website if selected.)
Elizabeth is a devoted wife to her husband Manuel, and works as a Recruiter for Auto Nation.

What a special way to honor a friend. People like that are amazing people to have in your life. At my “ripe old age,” we have just started attending church and finding it to be quite the experience..better late than never I guess!

I really like this concept of focusing on a different mom each month. Elizabeth sounds like an extraordinary woman.
Tracy´s last blog ..Am I relgious or a follower of Christ?
She is exactly that. And I’m so happy to have her as a friend!
As your friend for many years, I have grown to consider Elizabeth a friend too, well a friend-in-law (a term I once heard another friend use), although I have never met her or even talked to her once. I think we have exchanged emails once or twice. Nevertheless, I know enough about Elizabeth to know I like her and for the same reason you do. More importantly, I know that Elizabeth has prayed for me in times of difficulty and I have prayed for her too. Nice profile on a worthy subject.
Yes, that is Elizabeth. She doesn’t need to have met you to put you on her prayer list. And that’s always a good place to be.
I’m happy to profile her, she deserves the credit. There are so many hard working mom who go unnoticed every day without a thank you or any recognition. This is my way of telling her what a great job I think she does.
She certainly sounds like a rare treasure!

AWESOME! What a great woman you have chosen to highlight. And what a fun idea you've come up with.
I have been blessed by my mom and mother-in-law… two really terrific ladies. I can't imagine not knowing them!
