Show Me The Mom.
Show Me The Strength.

I am Shannon, this is my life, uncensored.

I am a wife, mom, friend…wearer of many hats. I’m 29…well..I’m 39 about to be 40, officially 40 now, but who’s counting!

I met my husband in August of 1991 on a very blind date, and we’ve been together since that first meeting. Sometimes life throws you curveballs in ways that you never imagined. I had absolutely no intentions of getting married any time soon when I met him that night; I had turned 22 years old a week before that first date.

It’s been a long, amazing ride, and where I sit and type is less than 10 minutes away from where we met, where my life started and changed in the same moment.

We have three, count ‘em three, boys:

  • Tyler, our oldest son, is 17.
  • Chase, the middle kid, is 15.
  • Jordan, our surprise baby, is almost 13.

They are amazing kids, I look at each one of them as a gift from God, with their own unique personalities and traits that make them special.

But let’s face it. They are teenage boys. They smell. They argue. They roll eyes. And then they start over. There are moments when I don’t know whether to hug them or smack them upside the head.

Trying to take boys and mold them into smart, polite, men who are aware of more than latest electronic device is a daily challenge in our society.

In the middle of working full time while my husband is gone for long spells due to his job, I’m trying to teach napkins in laps, food off the face, and ‘yes sir, I will have your daughter home by curfew.’

I depend on faith, family, friends and the occasional martini, to get by. If you’re confused about how faith and martinis go together, scroll right back on up to the word uncensored.

I started this blog to chronicle our story of two working parents, 3 teenage boys, our Pug Tank, and their endless stream of friends and antics. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s not so funny, but that’s life.

My writing borders between sappy, snarky and sarcastic, but it is always the in-your-face-truth of my own story as a working mother, complete with the ups and downs many women face but refuse to discuss. If you’re looking for a rosy blog about being a new mommy, this ain’t it (although I was once there, trust me, they’re all cute at that age.)

This is my story about trying to do what millions of moms do every day-somehow juggle it all. Not have it all. Just make it all work and make it to bed by 10.

I don’t know how that happened! I spent hours and hours lsat Saturday looking through free themes before I found this one and went with the non-free version after playing with both of them. I like it but I’ve had to do a lot of tweaking to it when I haven’t been sick, which I still am. I hope to have some time this weekend to tweak. I need to go look at yours-they don’t look just alike do they?

Shannon, I love your writing, your snap, snark, and sarcasm! I'm a mom of two girls, 4 & 8, a blogger, an artist (pastry chef really), and am half-
Tanked (well, what I mean by this is that I, too, have a PUG, but he's only HALF pug ~ Pancho Nerudo Inigo Montoya ~ is our CHUG, or, Chipugua. He has the personality and stout physique of a pug, and the coloring and huge ears of a Chihuahua. I look forward to following your continued adventures in mother/woman/parenthood.

Jenn-Thanks for the feedback! You have absolutely got to send a photo of your Chug! That is the CUTEST thing I have ever heard of and a “CHUG”? The name alone kills me! Photos, please!

Hi Shannon, I'd love to send you a pic of Pancho. I think I have some photos on FB. I'll send ya a link. I had never heard of a CHUG either, but a friend of mine recently adopted one from the local shelter as well and did some research. So, it turns out that there are several websites devoted to CHUGS and CHUG-lovers. Crazy! Apparently they were part of the designer mutt craze that hit a few years ago. Designer doggie or no, we're smitten with Pancho. I'm glad you like the name too. It fits him to a T!

Snarky makes for very interesting content. Sometimes I wish I would have the courage to write exactly what I'm thinking. Moms are amazing creatures, we do so much for so little. well, when you talk about a child saying “I Love you so much mommy” Then it's priceless the job we do

wow 3 boys! that sounds like fun and LOADS of work! ok… I'm not a mum nor a wife and in a couple of years I don't think I will become one of these but it's always nice to read someone's daily stories about life and rutine and how not to go crazy in meanwhile. Thank you for stopping by on my blog – that was pleasure to get back to yours and get to know you a bit better.

Thanks for popping by, fellow SITSta! I live in San Antonio, so I know about this terrible weather we’re having! 100 miles from Mexico, and 15 degrees? GAH! I bet it’s worse where you are with all the humidity…bleah!

3 teenager boys? I’m sure that sometimes they can be the cause of your headache! LOL I believe that as long as you talk to them seriously from time to time, they will grow up as gentlemen.
